In this video review, Ian Morris explains the ins and outs of the Panasonic DMR-EX89 Freeview personal video recorder, as well as its little siblings, the DMR-EX79 and DMR-EX769 (not the DMR-EX69, as we call it in the video). The machines features hard drives of varying sizes, while added flexibility comes in the form of a built-in DVD writer, which effectively adds unlimited storage. They're good-looking devices too, although we'd like to see the inclusion of a second Freeview tuner.

Ian Morris gives the lowdown on the Digital Vision GiGo Freeview personal video recorder in this video review. If you like hardware that looks and feels like a million dollars, the GiGo really isn't for you -- it's horrible to handle and look at. If, however, you want a Freeview PVR that records to USB memory cards and does a jolly good job, we think you'll be pretty pleased with it, especially as it has space for up to three USB sticks.

In this video review, Ian Morris considers the merits of the LG BD370 Blu-ray player. This terrific machine is one of the best-specified players on the market and comes at a reasonable price too. Its media-playback capability is particularly good, and its performance isn't at all bad either. Aside, from the lack of analogue 7.1 audio outputs, there's very little to dislike about the BD370. Put simply, it's one of the best buys out there.

In this video review, Ian Morris takes a look at the Samsung BD-P4600 Blu-ray player. It's good-looking and one of the fastest-loading players we've come across, but its high price might be its downfall, given the price of rival Sony and Panasonic models. It's a great machine, nevertheless, and definitely a good choice for Samsung TV owners who have their set mounted on a wall.

In this video, Ian Morris takes a look at the Humax Foxsat-HDR, the best freesat personal video recorder that money can currently buy. More built-in storage would have been good, but that's more than compensated for by the Foxsat-HDR's simplicity, great design, and excellent audio and video quality.

Watch Ian Morris talk about Pioneer's BDP-LX71 Blu-ray player. Although at first it may remind you of a 1980s heap of metal, this player fits in with all the other Pioneer equipment in the range, giving your set up a seamless look. The BDP-LX71 features simple menu systems that are a breeze to configure and has great connectivity options. For audiophiles, the LX71 introduces one important feature -- it has a built-in system that aims to reduce audio jitter over HDMI. This player has super picture-processing modes and, if you don't mind splashing out the cash, is a worthy investment

We love this DVD player for ignoring DVD region coding -- and doing just about everything else, too. Ian Morris explains in this video review how the Oppo 980H has some very advanced features, many of which aren't yet available on Blu-ray players. It also supports MPEG-4 playback in the form of DivX and XviD encoded video, and it has both analogue and digital outputs. To see the player up close and learn more about its features and performance, watch the video above.

In this video review, Ian Morris discusses some of the best features on the Humax PVR-9300T. The machine is an upgrade of the 9200T, one of our all-time favourite PVRs we've reviewed, and happily for us it has some improvements even on that great model. Most importantly, the 9300 comes with an HDMI output, which means picture quality is immensely improved. But it's not perfect -- find out what Ian has to say about the loud fan noise before making any big decisions.

Watch our video review of Toshiba's XD-E500 upscaling DVD player. Ian Morris discusses some of the pros and cons of upscaling and how the E500 enhances and increases picture quality. The video also gives more details about the machine's features and components, and touches on some criticisms, such as the flimsy remote control. Overall, however, the E500 performs competently and can breathe some extra life into your existing DVD collection.

Archos TV+ is too expensive, lacks support for some key codecs out of the box and doesn't offer any form of HD functionality. Its ability to record from DVD or Freeview/Sky/Cable STB might interest some with Archos PMPs
