Denon has proven themselves again with a good quality system that delivers audio with verve and drama. As small-speakered mini systems go, it's a winner

It doesn't get more prosaic than this, but for bedside radio listening the Gemini 19 is a solid performer. Lacklustre styling lets this DAB down, but if you've no interest in style and just want a slumber-stopper for the morning, the Gemini is as effective as any bedside radio

What a fantastic accomplishment! In these days of conspicuous consumption, the Dualit DAB Kitchen Radio is the Humvee of digital radios. It may not brim with features, but you could drop it off a cliff and it would still be home in time for tea

The original Bug always had a place in our heart. It may freak some buyers out with its radical styling (perhaps not so radical after all this time), but despite its rebellious looks, it's a reliable performer. If you like the design, there's every reason to snatch one up

We always run into a problem reviewing these high-end DAB radios. Arcam has done a fantastic job with this model, but the DAB signal itself can't be held to the same tough audiophile standards. Arcam's reputation remains hot, and if you love DAB already, you can't go wrong here

Finally someone has had the guts to bring out a well-made, affordable digital radio. PURE is well respected for its high-end DABs, and now it's proven itself at the budget end of the market. If you'd like to dabble in DAB without selling off important body parts, this is the radio for you

PURE has dealt up one of the smartest DAB hi-fis we've seen so far. Rich, clear tone and a credible CD player will please any DAB listener. If you're a radio fan this is by far the best way to listen to DAB. The currently low bit rates of digital broadcast mean anything more is overkill, and anything less won't sound quite as good

This is another very well-specified DAB from Pure, with excellent sonic characteristics and a durable, stylish build. Though DAB broadcasts in the UK won't impress anyone looking for CD-quality sound, within the limitations of the medium, the DRX-702ES delivers a sterling performance

Attention to detail is not quite what it should be here. Despite an initially attractive design and sturdy chassis, the XDR-S20 is let down by below-average audio quality and an unneccesarily complex user interface design. It's reasonable as a kitchen DAB, but there are richer pickings to be found elsewhere

There may be prettier radios, and there may be better-sounding ones, but the warm feeling you get from winding up the Devo can't be beaten. While the power-guzzling DAB components reduce the practicality of the winding process, for FM listening it's a revelation
